Essay for great Gatsby
The great Gatsby
Many years have past and the great gatsby is still a great novel, but have you ever wondered how Fitzgerald’s characterization create a tone around the theme of happiness?
Almost every character in this story seemed to be happy. Even though life around them was difficult to understand, they somehow didn't really seem so miserable. When reading the book, I was telling myself "damn these people have real issues" but they seemed totally fine about it. They kind of just ignored everyone and they went on with their life. I guess the easiest thing for them was to just ignore everything and everyone.
Even though Gatsby was wealthy and had everything, he didn't seem happy. That part was trippy because isn't money supposed to make you happy?? Everyone says that money doesn't buy happiness but if you don't have money, you basically can't really get anywhere now a days. Gatsby didn't really find happiness until he met up with daisy again.
So is love the key to happiness?? Honestly we all get happiness in a different way. If love was the key to happiness then why so many people are hurt from it. There's some people who are not in a relationship and are happy. Nick for example, he didn't have much money or a girlfriend but he seemed happy. I guess Fitzgerald's wanted us the readers to know the different form of happiness.
